Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Ferit collects through ferit.ng and the waitlist, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
Who we are
Ferit is operated by Ferit Mobility LTD (RC 9266569), Karsana, Gwarimpa, Abuja, Nigeria. You can reach us at any time at [email protected] or 0803 264 2152.
What we collect
- What you give us on the waitlist form: your name, email address, phone number, whether you want to ride or drive, and a referral code if you enter one.
- What we create: your own referral code, the date you joined, and whether we sent you a welcome email.
- Technical data: your IP address and browser details, used to protect the form from abuse (security check and rate limits) and kept in short-lived server logs.
We don't use advertising trackers on this site.
Why we use it
- To keep your place on the waitlist and tell you when Ferit launches (your consent, given when you join).
- To apply the launch offers described on the site and in our Terms, by matching the email you use when you sign up in the Ferit app.
- To count how many people joined with your referral code.
- To keep the site secure and stop automated sign-ups (our legitimate interest).
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We use these service providers, who process it only on our instructions:
- Railway — hosts the website and the waitlist database on servers in the European Union (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), where the EU's General Data Protection Regulation also protects your data.
- Cloudflare — delivers the website and runs the "Verify you are human" security check (Turnstile).
- Resend — sends our emails, including your welcome email.
- Google Forms — runs our optional survey. Google only gets your answers if you choose to take it.
When the Ferit app launches, your waitlist details are moved into the Ferit app's systems so we can recognise you when you sign up with the same email.
How long we keep it
Waitlist: the waitlist ends when the Ferit app launches. We delete your waitlist details 30 days after that (or sooner if you ask us to). Server logs are kept by our hosting provider, Railway, under its own log retention policy.
In the Ferit app, once it launches, these are the periods our systems apply today:
- Ride chat messages and the in-app call log (who called, when, how long — calls are never recorded): deleted automatically 90 days after the ride ends.
- A chat message you report (a copy of it and the 3 messages either side): kept while the report is open, and deleted 365 days after our team closes it.
- Face-check photos (your selfie, and for riders whose check needs a person to look at it, the NIN photo returned by the identity check): kept only when a review is needed, and deleted 90 days after they were taken. Face checks are not switched on yet.
- Your NIN: we never store the full number — only a one-way code made from it, its last 4 digits and the verified name. These are kept while you have an account.
- Driver's licence details and licence photo, and vehicle documents (drivers): kept while the driver account exists.
- Student fare documents (student ID, proof of enrolment, selfie): deleted 30 days after we decide on the application.
- Location: the location readings used to confirm the pickup are deleted once the trip has started. For drivers we only keep the latest position, which each new one replaces. We don't record a trail of the route. Each ride keeps its pickup and drop-off points.
- Rides, payments, subscriptions and account details: kept while you have an account. When you close your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except financial records (payments, payouts and fees), which we keep for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes, without your name or contact details.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Children
You can join the waitlist if you're under 18, but only with your parent's or guardian's consent, the same rule as the app's student fare. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you join.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell waitlist members about important changes by email.
